Christmas fun at MaVIS

The last MaVIS tournament of 2017 saw 6 division 1 teams enter, split into two pools.

Ipswich 2 winning pool A and Lakenheath winning pool B progressed to playoff for positions 1 to 3. Ipswich Ravens with a higher points difference than Stow 2 got the 3rd playoff spot.

Lakenheath managed to win 25 – 21 against Ipswich 2. Ipswich 2 managed an easy win 25 – 11 over Ravens and then Ravens beat Lakenheath 25 – 23. With each team with 1 win, Ipswich 2 took top spot in the tournament on points difference, Lakenheath runners up and Ravens in third place.

The playoffs for positions 4 to 6 saw Diss bearing Ipswich 1 25 – 16, then Stow 2 beating Ipswich 1 25 – 21, and then Stow 2 beating Diss 25 – 19. Putting Stow 2 in 4th place, followed by Diss then Ipswich 1.

Division 2 was scheduled to begin at midday, but heavy snow delayed the start of the matches which also made time for some photos in the snow.

4 teams couldn’t make the journey and some teams had some borrowed players from division 1, but Dissasters, Suffolk Uni, Stingers and Ravens 2 all made the snowy trip to the sports centre.

Stingers, Diss and Suffolk Uni all finished level on 2 wins each, Stingers taking top spot in division 2 scoring 1 more point difference than Diss, Suffolk Uni finishing third with Ravens in fourth.

Although the day saw a lot of snow and some teams forced to cancel, a lot of fun was had by everyone who attended. A big thank you to Chris Watson who added hot dogs to the buffet to keep all the MaVIS players warm!!

The MaVIS organisers and Ipswich volleyball club would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
