Ipswich Ladies vs Essex Trinity

Ipswich ladies first fixture of the season was a cup match against Division 2 team Essex Trinity and would be a good test for the team.

Ipswich Ladies started the first set well with some strong serving from Kasia Plesnar and great team play. Unfortunately for the home side, Essex were able to gain some momentum and take the first set to a nail biting 24-26! Once again Ipswich started the second set well, looking strong and confident with middle blockers Emma Goosey and Otylia Miazga blocking out the opposition on a number of occasions, but mistakes crept in towards the middle part of the set allowing Essex to claim.

The crucial third set saw Ipswich come out with intent and Iza Karwacka put pressure on with her serves, the setters were able to create some powerful attacks through outside hitters Zoe Verow and Ania Burejza. Despite some effective passages of play- helped by good passing from Michelle Abbott, the Ipswich side lost out to a well drilled Essex side who were able to create more effective attacks.
