Ipswich travelled to the National Volleyball Centre in Kettering for the chance to gain promotion to National League division 2. The winner of the first game would get automatic promotion.
Ipswich Vs Cardiff
The first set was picked up by a dominant Ipswich side keeping the Cardiff attack at bay with great serving from Kasia Plesnar. The next two sets saw Cardiff get back into the game despite great passing and defence from Libero Jenny Ubasa, Ipswich couldn’t capitalise on their attacks. The next 2 sets were vital for Ipswich and with some amazing rallies and considered, calm setting from Iza Karwacka the ladies edged forward in the 4th set. With all to play for in the fifth set it was a blow for the ladies to lose out by 7 points.
The ladies had one more chance for promotion, against Leeds RGA panthers who had lost to Norwich Spikers earlier in the day in day in another play off match.

Knowing that this was the last chance for promotion, the Ipswich ladies threw their all into the game, including Ania Burejza picking up the Leeds attacks easily in her last game for the Ipswich side. A few errors crept into the Ipswich game and they lost their spark and the first two sets, the team needed to stay strong together and started an incredible fight back. The ladies proved their determination with blocks at the net from Otylia Miazga and Natalia Regucka. Ipswich really flew ahead in the next two sets, keeping the Leeds side to less than 10 points with attacking strength and solid passing from Zoe Verow. The whole team played their hearts out knowing this was their last chance for promotion and left the course victorious!
This is a huge achievement for the Ipswich team and all the squad and coach Simon Browne should be massively proud of this seasons success. Ipswich ladies have been grateful for the support of David Lloyd Ipswich providing gym training and maintaining the teams fitness throughout the season.
This weekend saw massive success for not only Ipswich but other fellow East Anglian teams Newmarket men’s team and Norfolk Ladies were also promoted to Division 2.
Ipswich travelled to Portsmouth for their final games of the National league season against league leaders London Lionhearts and playoff rivals South Hants.
Ipswich Ladies vs London Lionhearts
First game was against undefeated Lionhearts, the Lionhearts dominated from the start with very strong serves keeping Ipswich from making any attacks. Despite great blocks at the net from Anita Cooper Ipswich couldn’t hold back the London attack allowing them to claim the first set easily. Ipswich started the next set with much more fire power particularly through Natalia Regucka’s attacks and Iza Karwacka’s serves. The ladies made up far more points this set and went into the next determined to prove themselves. This set proved to be a far more even game, Ipswich even crept ahead during the set, but just missed out by 2 points. Zoe Verow named as Ipswich’s MVP.
An unfortunate 3 – 0 loss to Ipswich and leaving the last match against South Hants a must win to secure the playoff position in the league.

In stark contrast to the previous game, Ipswich started strong and looked a confident and formidable unit. Jen Ubasa showed her defensive prowess enabling Kasia Plesnar to set up multiple attacks. Consistent serving and minimal mistakes allowed Ipswich to take the first set. The next set Ipswich showed their attacking power with both Zoe Verow and Ania Burejza gaining points through their spikes. With the second set a success, the ladies knew they just had to take the next to secure the second spot in the division. Starting confidently with consistent play and few errors, Ipswich were the dominant side meaning victory was theirs!

Ipswich ladies have finished the NVL season in 2nd spot in the league, making this their most successful season to date and now await the playoffs for promotion to National League division 2. Ipswich travelled to Dartford to take on Maidstone.
Ipswich had a shaky start to the first set which saw them chasing Maidstone for points. Emma Goosey won Ipswich some vital points with blocks and attacks. Ipswich fought back with strong defence from Jenny Ubasa and good serves from Otylia Miazga meaning Ipswich won the first set.
The second set started stronger for Ipswich with some clever attacks from Iza Karwacka and Ania Burejza. Gosia Loose set up some great attacks for Zoe Verow and the Ipswich side won the set convincingly.
Kasia Plesnar started the third set with some strong serves and the ladies worked hard as a team to win the third set and take the game. Ania Burejza was awarded MVP for the match.
The Ipswich side have a home game Sunday 3rd March and are hoping for another good crowd for their game against Portsmouth, all welcome for first serve at 12:30, Northgate Sports Centre.

With a large home crowd and a full roster of players, the atmosphere for Ipswich Ladies home fixtures was amazing.
The first set saw Ipswich create a great lead against the Sussex side with strong attacks from Anita Cooper, hitting the ball near the 3m line and unstoppable serves from Iza Karwacka. Ipswich kept up their fire power through Ania Burejza and dominated the first set. In the second set, the setting from Kasia Plesnar and great defensive work from libero player Jenny Ubasa sealed the fate of the away side. Something went amiss during the third set and the ladies struggled with errors on their side of the net which resulted in them losing this set. Determined to make a strong comeback, Ipswich held nothing back, with great serving from Marta Holton and Emma Goosey. The team really showed their grit during long rallies which paid off in a deserved win for the home side. Iza Karwacka was awarded MVP for this game.

Ipswich ladies vs South Hants
Ipswich knew South Hants would be tough competition as they currently are sitting top of the pile in NVL Div3SE. From the outset the ladies passing and setting skills were put to the test, thankfully with consistent players such as Natalia Regucka putting in perfect passes, the ladies were able to win the first set and their fitness carried them through to the next. Zoe Verow put away some indefensible attacks through the outside and with Everita Sokolova’s passing and serves the second set was a triumph for Ipswich. Otylia Miazga showed her blocking prowess at the net and the ladies came out on top in the last set, largely due to fighting spirit and a strong sense of togetherness on court. Anita Cooper was awarded MVP this game.

Ipswich ladies have been lucky enough to spend their Fridays nights at their new sponsors @davidlloyd.
The NVL ladies team have a busy month coming up with fixtures almost every weekend. The team are currently mid-table in national league 3SE, but the ladies have several games in hand on all the teams around them. Fitness will be key if the ladies are to push for a place at the top end of the table, the team is very grateful for the body combat fitness session David Lloyd have put on for them, it is the perfect session to prepare the ladies for the tough matches to come.
